Active Vintage Class at NSORRA hare scrambles
What’s old is new again – looking for Vintage bikes and riders for NSORRA hare scrambles!
NSORRA introduced a vintage class at the hare scrambles a few years ago but participation has been spotty of late and we want to change that. We’re looking for ideas to grow participation!
Proposed Vintage Class Regulations
There have been inquiries regarding the eligibility criteria for the Vintage class at NSORRA hare scrambles and whether the criteria should be relaxed.
Current regulations are as follows:
- 1990 model year or older 4-stroke with front disc or drum brake and rear drum only.
- 1983 model year or older 2-stroke manufactured with drum brakes front and rear. (No 2-stroke machines will be permitted to be equipped with a front disc brake).
Due to the scarcity of bikes that meet the current age requirements, an eligible date for all bikes (2- and 4-stroke) manufactured 1993 and prior has been suggested. As this would allow very capable bikes (even by today’s standards) to compete in the class, bikes manufactured prior to 1990 would receive a one-minute per year allowance in an effort to even up the technology gap.
How would this work?
For example, if the leading rider on a machine manufactured in 1993 completed five laps in a time of 1 hour, 17 minutes and 42 seconds, and the second rider completed five laps with a time of 1 hour, 24 minutes and 30 seconds riding a machine manufactured in 1986, the rider finishing second on the course would take the win (12 seconds) once his 7-minute time allowance had been applied.
Send us your suggestions!
