International Volunteer Recognition Day!
NSORRA wants to take the opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to every single person who has volunteered their time to sit on our Board, assist during a race or special event or manage and maintain the beautiful trails of this province.
Volunteers make things happen!
Volunteers contribute passion, skill, and tireless work. They turn trails into gateways for everyone to access and enjoy the outdoors, do what is needed to make events happen and, in the case of the NSORRA Board, do the behind the scenes planning to ensure trails, activities and events occur.
This does not go unnoticed!
Shout out to the NSORRA Board of Directors!
NSORRA Board Volunteers make things happen!
Some of our biggest volunteers are NSORRA Board members. They give their time to plan activities and events to ensure all of our members have fun on the trails.
On Sunday, December 3, we held our year-end NSORRA Board wrap-up, strategic planning and budget meeting. Lots of great discussion and plans were made (more to come!).
At lunchtime, the Board enjoyed pizzas courtesy of Recreation Nova Scotia thanks to a winning photo entry in their summer contest.
Recognizing last founding Board member - Neil Jennings
We recognized longtime Board member, Neil Jennings who stepped down after 18 years serving the Nova Scotia dirt bike community. Neil was Trails Director for many years and more recently Rec Ride Director. Though he stepped down from his official role, Neil has agreed to continue organizing NSORRA rec rides in northern Nova Scotia.
Live Outside, Feel Alive!
The full-day meeting also presented us with the opportunity to recognize several outstanding Board volunteers who went above and beyond in 2023.
Congratulations to Mike Ritter, Neil Jennings, Josh Kelly, Paige Milligan, Meagan Cairns and Dave Tobin.
Your NSORRA 2024 Board of Directors includes:
- Josh Kelly, President and Training co-Director
- David Tobin - Vice President and Race co-Director
- Paige Milligan - Vice President and Women In Moto Director
- Dale Wells - Treasurer
- Mike Ritter - Training co-Director
- Meagan Cairns - Race co-Director
- Richard Parkinson - Trails co-Director
- Scott Lockhart - Corporate Liaison
- Brian Priest - Equipment Maintenance and Supply
- Trails co-Director - volunteer needed
We have committees for Race, Women in Moto and Trails. They all need volunteers.
The Rec Ride Committee is lead by Neil Jennings and Shereef Elkoshairi. They are also looking for volunteers to step forward to lead rides.
Volunteers make things happen!
If you’ve ever taken advantage of a NSORRA rec ride, race, special event or a trail in Nova Scotia, consider becoming a volunteer yourself. Volunteer areas include: timing and scoring at races, sweeping during rec rides, special event tasks. We are even looking for someone to design a wrap for our new events trailer!
And remember to say THANK YOU next time you see a hardworking volunteer out on the trail!
