New NSORRA Web Site Hints
Hi there, welcome to the new NSORRA web site! This blog describes some of what you will see here on the site and how to use it.
The new web site incorporates the latest web technologies to make online membership registration better than ever. We have also added online event registration for racing, training (MSF Dirt Bike School) and other events. This system will also feed our race timing and scoring system to help make race days way more efficient.
The site contains frequently updated blog posts, information on the NSORRA riding parks, photos and videos, sponsor information and more. We are looking for contributors to the site so, if you have writing or technical skills or are handy with a camera or go pro, and want to get involved, please email gmnsorra@nsorra.ca.
Username and Logon
You need a username to logon to the site. Once logged in the system will use your email address to register for events such as racing and training. You can use your email address as a logon if you want, but remember it will not initially have the same password as your email and if you change the password for one the other does not get changed. If you created your membership using this new site you will have created the username already. Did you register using the old site? If so see below. The new site has a 'Become a Member' button near the top of the home page. The old site did not.
Like facebook, twitter, your online banking and anything you do online, we need a way to identify you. You logon with your username but internally we use the email you provided us to identify you. We will also acknowledge your membership and event registrations by sending a note to the email you provided us. Once logged in you can register yourself and other people (such as your kids) for events using their email addresses. That's why there is both a username and email required.
There are a few people who registered with the old system who did not provide us an email for all your family members. Therefore we created a temporary email for you so our system will be able to uniquely identify them. We can change this email for you to something better when you are ready to register for races or training or other events.
Here are a few more Hints on how to use the System
Becoming a NSORRA Member
If you have not become a member of NSORRA yet, select the 'Become a Member' button from the home page or other locations on the site. Enter the required data, select individual or family membership, pay and you're done! This will take about 5 minutes.
You will get an email from NSORRA with a link to set your password and then you are ready to go! If you registered family members they will also get an email sent to their email address in case they want to log on themselves.
Before you start
You need to have a Paypal account, a credit card or provide banking information. When you have entered the information to register on the site you'll be popped over to the Paypal login page. Login to Paypal, complete the transaction and select the Return to Merchant button when done. Alternatively you can tell Paypal your credit card or banking information and they will securely process the payment to us on your behalf.
Registering for a Race or Training or other Events
Before you start
You must be an NSORRA member for races, training and some other events. Become a member first.
Logon before you register for any events. This will pre-populate the information we need to register you. Logon is in the top right menu. You will use the username you registered with. If you don't logon you'll need to type in the email you registered as and a bunch of other data we need, each time you want to attend an event. If the event requires you to be an NSORRA member (such as races) then the system will confirm this.
You can register other people such as family members but you must know their email address as registered in this system. As well the system currently doesn't populate their information automatically so you'll need to fill that out.
To register for a paid event like a race or training you also need to have a Paypal account, a credit card or provide banking information as described above.
When you select an event for registration you may find that we have not yet enabled it for online registration. The event description will tell you when online registration will be enabled. We'll enable events one at a time as the season progresses.
We will move to an entirely online based registration process during the 2019 season.
If you registered before the new system came online (April 26, 2019)
If you have registered online using the old system your contact information has been loaded into the new system. Your logon ID is your registered email address. You should have received an email on April 30 telling you how to set your password. If you did not receive an email please check your spam folder. If nothing there, contact info@nsorra.ca and we'll get you going.
A few other Odds and Ends
Select the NSORRA graphic on the top left hand of any page to return to the home page.
The menu has a 'My Account' button. If you select this and then the 'Edit' button you can change some of your registered information if, for one example, you move. Over time we will add to the capabilities of the system and add more self service options.
Resetting your Password
If you forget or need to reset your password make sure first that you are not logged in to the site. Select the 'Login' button in the menu. Then select 'Reset Password'. Enter your username or registered email and select 'Submit'. You'll get an email with a link to set your new password.
Sponsors
And last, but not least, the bottom of the home page has information on our ever so important 2019 sponsors. Please support local business!
