New Year, Big Changes!
2025 is shaping up to be a big year for the Nova Scotia Off Road Riders Association!
Though the snow continues to fall, we have riders out riding frozen trail across the province. We continue to sign new land agreements and develop and expand our ride parks.
Time to Evaluate
Preseason is always a good time to evaluate how things work, including on the technology side. As anyone who has registered for a NSORRA membership or event knows, there are occasionally difficulties as the process sends members on a wild goose chase with passwords.
We have been thinking about making a change for a while and after much discussion, we have decided to transition our website, membership, registration and race processes over to the LiveLaps system. Though LiveLaps was initially established as a race registration and electronic timing program, it has expanded into websites that can encompass all of our programs from Training, Trails, Special Events and of course Race. New and exciting news for 2025, is the use of LiveLaps for electronic timing at our hare scrambles!
2024 Hare Scramblers Only
Right now, we are inviting all 2024 racing members to sign up for their 2025 NSORRA membership by February 16. This is the initial membership launch to allow our racers to secure their current bike numbers in the LiveLaps system. After this initial process, your race number will be secure provided you renew each year.
On February 18, NSORRA membership will be open to new hare scramblers and the unassigned numbers will be released.
General Members (non-racing)
General membership, for those not racing, is also open. NSORRA membership through LiveLaps is for all NSORRA members, not just hare scramblers. You are given the option of signing up as a Race Member or as a General Member. The main difference is that race members are given the option to choose a bike number.
The registration process is simple
Step 1: Go to livelaps.com and on the top banner choose Create an Account (this is free)
Step 2: Create an account for each member you are registering with NSORRA. This includes all members whether they are racing or not.
Step 3: Log in to your account and sign up for a membership with NSORRA.
NBDRA, our sister association, has also transitioned to LiveLaps, which will open some opportunities for us going forward. In your LiveLaps profile you can link other profiles for your convenience when it comes to registering for a race.
Important Notes
- If you have already purchased your NSORRA membership, your file will be linked to your LiveLaps profile. You must create a LiveLaps file so that your membership can transfer to the new system. Go to livelaps.com and on the top banner choose Create an Account (this is free).
- There will be a delay in membership package mailings during this transition period.
- Please include your complete address including post office box and apartment number. Stamps are expensive so there will be an additional processing fee if membership packages are returned for incomplete addresses.
If you have any questions, please send them to info@nsorra.ca and we will get back to you as soon as we have answers.
Looking forward to a great 2025 riding season!
