The NSORRA race committee endeavors to keep the rulebook as up to date as possible and applicable to the realities of the race series, to ensure fairness and safety for all participants.

There are times that unusual circumstances or situations arise that require the committee to review, revise, or add rules to provide clarity and understanding where it may have been lacking.

We recognized an area that needed further clarification in order for all participants to have a better understanding of what can result in disqualification in unique situations. Appendix A – Infractions and Penalties has since been updated to reflect those clarifications, specifically sections 8 and 9.

8. Intentionally leaving the course – Disqualified

If a rider chooses not to continue the race for any reason but does not want to be scored as a DNF, they are asked to proceed along the course until they are close to the timing and scoring area, where they can park their bike in a safe spot that does not restrict the course or pose a danger to any other participants whatsoever. They must remain near their bike until the race ends and they can then proceed to ride through timing and scoring.

9. Intentionally leaving the course for the medical or mechanical reasons

In the event of a medical issue, if a rider exits the race course with his bike anywhere other than Timing and Scoring, it will result in a DNF.

  1. A rider may only re-enter the race course at Timing and Scoring after being cleared by a medical and race official. In the event that the rider is 15 years of age or younger, parental/guardian consent will also be required.
  2. If a medical incident occurs while on the course and the rider is unable to return to Timing and Scoring by following the course on his bike, the rider may re-enter the race from the place where the incident occurred (and bike remained) only after being cleared by a medical and race official. In the event that the rider is 15 years of age or younger, parental/guardian consent will also be required.
  3. In the event of a mechanical breakdown or issue during the race:
    1. The rider must complete their lap through Timing and Scoring and exit the course there for repairs. If the rider wishes to re-enter the race, it is their responsibility to coordinate with Timing and Scoring so that race officials are aware that the rider is back on the course.
    2. If a mechanical incident occurs while on the course and the rider is unable to return to Timing and Scoring by following the course on his bike, the rider may re-enter the race from the place where the incident occurred (and bike remained) only after being cleared by a race official. In the event that the rider is 15 years of age or younger, parental/guardian consent will also be required.
