What’s Happening at Hiltz Road Ride Park?
Providing better accessibility for our members, sponsors and emergency response crews is one of the goals for the work currently being completed on NSORRA’s Hiltz Road Ride Park.
Work Scope
Anyone who has been to Hiltz Road knows how difficult it was to find parking at the trailhead. This problem has been solved with the west side of the driveway cleared north of the outhouse and rough-leveled. The old woods road has been opened up and widened to allow for through traffic and parking along the side of its length.
Additional gravel may be needed to stabilize soft spots which will need surfacing in the spring/early summer of 2025 before we use it for an event. Riders are asked to avoid soft areas to minimize damaging it. Watch for CAUTION tape to delineate new area.
This project, which will continue into 2025, will also create more room for a safe start area without compromising any established trails.
Thank You!
Many thanks to Les Doherty of LRD Excavating for understanding the work that needed to be completed and making it happen exactly as we requested, while leaving trails neat and tidy for our members so that they can continue to ride safely.
A huge shout out to landowner Sean Lacey and land managers Dennis and Pat Melanson who continue to work with our Trails Coordinator, Susan Foote – powered by Moto Canada! – to ensure the Hiltz Road trails are developed properly and welcoming to all NSORRA members.
Funding for the work completed in NSORRA's ride parks comes from the Province of Nova Scotia through the Off Highway Vehicle Infrastructure Fund.
