2022 NSORRA Hare Scramble Class Promotions

• The top 3 finishers in each class, with the exception of +50, Women and Expert classes, are automatically moved to the next higher level.
• The Race Committee then looks at the next racer(s) who finished close but may not have placed due to a crash or breakdown at a race or two. If their performance was within the top 3 finishing order with comparable lap times, they will also be promoted.
• If a racer competes and dominates in one race, they will be moved up if they return to a future race event.
• If any rider slips through the cracks and returns to a class where they dominate, they will be removed from placing in that class and disqualified, then will be moved up to the next class in any future races.

NSORRA notifies racers of class promotion through letters that are mailed to them before they are published in social media. Riders are free to appeal their promotions, however it should be noted that unless the promotion poses a hazard to the safety of the rider or to other riders, it generally won’t be considered.

If a rider refuses a promotion, they will be allowed to continue riding in the same class but without the ability to place or accumulate points, effectively making it for fun only.

A healthy race series will have classes that show proportional growth at each level. When we see lower classes growing exponentially, with higher classes stagnating or shrinking, it’s an indication that the race series is in need of enforcement of policies put in place to maintain balance.

Riders are encouraged to self-promote to a higher class. At the same time, if a rider feels that their abilities are not up to their current class, they can contact the race committee through info@nsorra.ca to discuss the situation.

Note: All riders can pay and race more than one class but will only receive points for one class. For example, women who chose to race Women A and Women B will only receive points for the Women A category.

Geoff Munt grew up riding dirt bikes in the Annapolis Valley. He is also an active sweeper at hare scramble events.
