2024 Rallye Motoplex-NSORRA Rec Ride Series
The 2024 Rallye Motoplex-NSORRA Recreational Ride Series kicked off on May 5 in one of the oldest established riding areas in the province – Debert.
This area is popular for all levels of riders, but the first rec ride of the season focussed on introducing beginner riders to this wonderful riding area. A warm and dry day created perfect riding conditions.
Sixteen riders enjoyed a 3.5 km loop, on the sandy trails with multiple laps completed. The 16 were put in two groups; one on smaller bikes and one on bigger bikes, so that everyone could ride at their own pace. It was a great intro ride to the season.
August 10 – Big Bike Friendly Ride from Debert
The next event in the series is scheduled for August 10th starting in Debert. This ride will be suitable for full-sized dirt bikes, adventure bikes and everything in between in an attempt to bridge the gap between other NSORRA rec rides and adventure rides organized by other groups.
Participants need to be able to ride at speed on logging roads and be able to cross some challenging ATV and snowmobile trails during this intermediate-level ride. This will be a backcountry ride taking in a number of scenic areas including rivers, lakes, lookoffs, bridges, a waterfall and even a castle!
You need to be self-sufficient and carry enough fuel, snacks, drinks and tools for the first 100 km leg of the journey to Folly Mountain. A support vehicle will transport your gas and food to this turnaround point, then back to Debert.
The afternoon ride will be a bit shorter, but this will be an all-day event.
August 24 – Hard Enduro Recreational Ride at Folly Mountain
We will be returning to Folly Mountain for the same hard enduro rec ride as last year. If you are used to riding hard enduro in steep terrain in first and second gear, this is the ride for you. A good rear tire, low pressure and a fan will help. Guides will focus on helping improve your riding techniques instead of just pulling you up hills.
The ride will begin and end at the Fundy Trail Snowmobile Club (FTSC). Although the trail will be well marked, you should ride in groups so that you will have help on the tougher sections when the groups get spread out. The same trail will be used in two directions – one for intermediate and one for advanced riders. It will be easy to call it a day at any point on the ride, just make sure to tell one of the organizers that you are done; they will get you out to an easy ride back to the clubhouse.
September 7-8: A Two-day Ride in Yarmouth
NSORRA has teamed up with a group of local riders headed by Nick Cottreau, to ride a new-to-NSORRA part of the province. Organizers have laid out a fun weekend in the Yarmouth area.
Day 1 will include a network of single track, double track, motocross track, downhill mountain bike track and hill climbs. The ride will be intermediate level, with some optional advanced sections.
Day 2 ride (weather, interest & time pending) will be a tour of the backwoods of Yarmouth & Digby counties. The area consists of flowy double track and ATV roads connecting several interesting landmarks. This ride will be low level intermediate in difficulty.
It is recommended that riders have registration & insurance since we will be travelling on some of the rails to trails.
September 21st – Intermediate Enduro Rec Ride at Folly Mountain
This NSORRA rec ride season closer will consist of fast, flowy single and double track trails. Since this ride is usually popular, participants will be divided into two groups based on abilities. Riders will visit Annandale Falls and the Deer Rock Lookoff. You will also have a chance to take a shot at the Pine Climb (though it’s mostly hemlock!).
