All About Dirt Biking by Caleb Martin (age 10)
Dirt biking is a passion for many riders. We often hear stories about how a top competitor grew up on a bike and how it made a difference in their life.
A boy and his love of dirt bikes
Today I received a note from a proud dad. His son has followed in his footsteps and is competing in NSORRA hare scrambles. He and his family are well-known and liked among their NSORRA family and in fact, Caleb is our poster boy for getting a NSORRA membership! Without further ado…
I wanted to share this with you. Caleb had to write an informational paper for his grade 4 homework. It's worth reading. The impact the NSORRA has on our kids is second to none.

All About Dirt Biking
By Caleb Martin (age 10)
My name is Caleb Martin and I race dirt bikes and I’m going to teach you different models, sizes and brands of dirt bikes.
There are many different brands of dirt bikes. Some of the popular brands include Honda, Yamaha, KTM, GasGas, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Apollo.
There are multiple different sizes of bikes. Many brands make smaller dirt bikes for kids. Kids bikes have different engine sizes from 50cc to 150cc (cc stands for cubic centimeters).
There are many different models of bikes too. Different models are for different riding styles. Some are for motocross and others are for trail riding in the woods. Some models can be the same but with different size engines. Some models have 2-stroke engines, some have 4-stroke engines and others have electric motors.
I ride an Apollo 110 4-stroke and my dad rides a GasGas 300 2-stroke.
In conclusion, I love racing and learning about dirt bikes. I learn most from my dad and being at the races. There’s lots to learn about dirt biking and I can’t wait to learn more.
Thank you for sharing your essay and your love of dirt biking, Caleb. We’ll see you at the NSORRA hare scrambles this season!
