BE THE CHANGE – NSORRA Volunteers Needed
I recently heard a new acronym: STP, or “Same Ten People.” As in, it’s the same ten people in any community who are the ones who get stuff done.
NSORRA strives to do better than the same ten people. We are community and, more importantly, we are family. We each have a lot to offer, and volunteering helps our community to grow and be the best it can be. Fresh ideas and energy are what push us forward. There's a place for everyone to help, from children and spouses to spectators!
NSORRA is a grassroots nonprofit
The Nova Scotia Off Road Riders Association (NSORRA) is a volunteer-driven, non-profit organization formed to promote and represent the safe, family friendly and environmentally responsible sport of off-road motorcycling. As a grassroots nonprofit and in an effort to keep its membership costs low, NSORRA relies on its members to support the association and its activities through volunteerism.
Cultivating a practice of service
So how does one get involved? How does one change the culture in a community to get more than the usual folks to show up and get work done?
First, think about your relationship with the outdoors as being reciprocal instead of one-sided. And then realize how the benefits of participating will make a big impact, too. Think about how much more impactful it would be if a much larger percentage of riders played a role in the building, maintenance and advocacy for NSORRA activities and trails. Volunteering not only benefits the individual participating, but also the greater riding community.
Make a difference!
Every volunteer makes a difference. The Nova Scotia dirt bike community is filled with talented riders with passionate ideas. If we come together, we can keep growing this sport and making this community better and better every year.
We are always looking for volunteers interested in making their community an even better place to ride – all while having fun and making new friends in the process! We welcome volunteers of all ages and encourage youth to get involved as a way to learn new skills or share the ones you already have.
