Craigmore ORM Park Trail Recovery
NSORRA members rose to the challenge when it came to recovering trail at Craigmore ORM Park on Sunday, August 20.
The Craigmore Ride Park Work and Ride on Sunday, August 20 started on schedule at 10 am and finished around 6 pm. There was a tremendous amount of whipper snipping and spacing saw work (clearing saw) completed. Volunteers were assisted by local contractor, Callum MacDonald, who tackled the heaviest work with his land-clearing equipment.
About 80% of the total park has been regained and we are hoping to have a few bodies on Thursday to continue whipper snipping in the central clearcut on the north side of the service road as well as around the practice track and the beginning of the kids loop up to the house. Clearing work is needed near the roadside and close to our sign to improve visibility of sight lines entering and exiting the park.
We had an excellent turnout by our dedicated members: Josh Kelly, Justin Lewis, Mike Ritter, Jens Sauer, the Cooper family including Dan, Vanessa, Eli and Leah as well as the Kaplan family including David, Julie and Justin who diverted from their trip to Louisbourg to work on the trails. Thank you for contributing your time and talents to NSORRA Ride Parks! We are a nonprofit and require a strong volunteer effort to allow us to offer our programs and events.
Two Work & Rides Left!
A second and third work and ride will take place on Thursday afternoon, August 24 starting at 2 pm and all-day Friday, August 25. Volunteers are always needed. Bring your whipper snippers, loppers and bush hogs so we can have Craigmore in great shape for the scramble and the fall riding season!
