Would you like to race a 1-hour competitive hare scramble? Did you finish out of the points in Intermediate B at the Craigmore hare scramble? If you answered YES to BOTH of these questions or you are new to hare scrambles, we have the class for you!
“The Race Committee has been looking at ways to reduce the number of riders on the line for our Intermediate B class without disrupting the race order,” says NSORRA Race Director, David Tobin. “We realized that several riders would prefer to run a competitive 1-hour race. Our best option, since the season has already started, is to switch Sportsman from a non-competitive class to a competitive class.”
“This is a test run and we are looking for feedback from racers,” adds Tobin. “Based on feedback and registration, we may add another class and return Sportsman to a non-points class next season.”
GREAT NEWS! Scoring 4 out of 5 Scrambles
For the 2024 season, NSORRA is taking the best four results from each racer during the season to put towards the championship series rankings. In previous seasons, if you missed a scramble, you usually lost the chance to place. This opens it up to riders to stay competitive even if they miss a race or if they don’t have a good result at one scramble.
“Now is the perfect time to introduce another competitive class, because there are still 4 scrambles remaining,” says Tobin. “We are hoping this will provide an opportunity for riders that don’t have enough seat time during the season to go for 90 minutes in the Intermediate B or Women’s race to still come out and compete in a 1-hour race.”
The next 2024 Soles In Motion-NSORRA hare scramble is on June 22 at Mill Hill Ride Park in the Annapolis Valley. It will be followed on Sunday by the annual Drive to Ride - a free ride event for our members.
