Which scramble class do I register for?
For anyone new to the race series, selecting the appropriate class can seem daunting, especially with all the different names of the classes.
Morning classes
All the morning youth classes are arranged in age groups, making it fairly easy to figure out what class you should be in, as well as knowing the minimum bike requirements for that class. The series is structured to allow a child to enter and progress naturally as their age, skills and bike size increases. Mixed classes include: PeeWee, School Kid, Super Mini. Girls 14+ can race Junior with the boys or jump up to the morning women’s class.
Women and Sportsman Classes
There are two women’s classes – A and B. The B class runs in the morning in a one-hour time slot on a shorter course. It is considered the entry level for women over 14. The afternoon women’s class runs 1.5 hours on the longer track and requires a more advanced skill level.
The new morning Sportsman class is a one hour non-competitive, non-points class for anyone who doesn’t fit into one of the youth classes and who wants to try out a race to see where they should go in a competitive class. This class can also be entered by anyone who wants to race for fun, without receiving any formal recognition for it.
Intermediate A and B
Intermediate B is for anyone that was in the old +25 class. This is generally considered to be the entry level competitive class for anyone older than the morning Junior class. This is NOT the class to enter if you have or are currently racing motocross. To be fair to all participants, if you enter this class and have a dominant performance (lapping everyone else), you will be removed from that class and not scored in the finish. You will also be automatically moved up to the next class for any future racing.
Intermediate A (formerly Intermediate) is a good starting point for any past or present motocross riders and experienced, fast woods riders. If you enter this class and have a dominant performance (lapping everyone else), you will be removed from that class and not scored in the finish, then automatically moved up to the next class for any future racing.
New Plus 50 class and Expert class
Plus 50 is an age-restricted class of very competitive and skilled riders. It runs a time equal to Intermediate A.
Expert class is where you go if you’ve raced motocross for a number of years or raced other off-road series and were very competitive. This class is for top riders and is appropriately challenging.
