Be Prepared and Ride Safe! MCC-ORC supplies first aid kits to member associations
MCC-ORC wants riders to be prepared and be safe on the trails.
Thanks to the Motorcyclists Confederation of Canada Off Road Council (MCC-ORC), 100 free first aid kits arrived at the NSORRA office early this summer for distribution at NSORRA events.
“The first aid kits came about as a part of the MCC-ORC annual planning campaign and a desire to continue the messaging the ORC has been promoting in terms of riding safe and within your skill level, and of course being prepared!" says ORC co-chair Grant Lingley.
MCC-ORC started with 600 kits with distribution from coast to coast – BC (BCORMA), Alberta (Alberta Off Road Riders), Ontario (OFTR), Quebec, New Brunswick (NBDRA) and of course, the Nova Scotia Off Road Riders Association (NSORRA).
Have a Plan, Be Prepared
“We really want to promote the ongoing need to be prepared as a rider, encourage riders to take a first aid course and to ride safely,” says ORC co-chair, Grant Lingley, who also happens to be past-president of NSORRA. “The ORC, with the direct assistance of the MCC, has promoted Safe Riding and Have a Plan, Be Prepared for a number of years and this was one more opportunity for the MCC-ORC to reach out to riders across Canada.”
Participants in NSORRA’s first recreational ride and at the association’s final hare scramble of the season received a kit which contains supplies such as towelettes, iodine, gloves, bandages, gauze pads, tape, scissors, tweezers and a hard plastic tube carrying essentials. The kits are small enough to fit easily into any spare space and even have a belt loop attachment.
“MCC-ORC is really excited to get these kits out to riders and to encourage them to be prepared as a rider,” comments Grant Lingley. “We hope that our provincial federations will use the kits to promote their own events across the country and we would love to see the smiles of riders receiving them through social media, websites, and any other form of promotion your organization may use to get the message out there.”
