Fundy Trail Dirtbike Club Hosts 4 NSORRA Events
NSORRA’s first club, Fundy Trail Dirtbike Club on Folly Mountain, hosted four NSORRA events this year.
1 - Debert Beginner Level Rec Ride - 5 May
The first event of the Rallye Motoplex-NSORRA Rec Ride season was a beginner level recreational ride in one of the most popular riding areas of the province - Debert. This was a great introduction to a beginner-friendly riding area.
Sixteen riders were divided into two groups based on bike size. Everyone enjoyed a well-marked 3.5 km loop on the sandy trails with multiple laps completed.
2 - Folly Mountain Intermediate Hard Enduro Rec Ride - 24 August
The second Rec Ride of the season was our most technically challenging.
The ride started with 16 riders - Pros and Joes. 11 Pros took to the woods led by Kyle Ledwidge. Pro guides Matthew Purdy, Darrell Luedey and Nick MacDonald led two Joes into the deep end. One Joe gave it his all then tapped out to save a bit for another day. 13 of 16 completed the entire ride including Cody MacKenna on his e-bike!
Conditions were perfect for the 4-hour ride that included a bonus hill climb. Congrats to Kyle Ledwidge on winning the award for the biggest send, trying a line that nobody else saw or wanted to try and congrats to Turk Tobin for being the only one to climb the bonus hill climb on the main line!
3 - Folly Mountain Intermediate Enduro Rec Ride - 22 September
We switched things up for our third and final recreational ride of the season at Folly Lake. We stayed in one group of 22 riders instead of dividing up into two groups based on speed.
We used the leapfrog approach where the second-place rider would get dropped at every intersection to show which way to go, then tucked in front of the sweep rider.
BBQ sponsored by RPM Cycle
Scott Josey, a former NSORRA President, led us through a mixture of single and double track to a tasty BBQ at his camp sponsored by RPM Cycle, always a strong NSORRA supporter.
A couple of barrel rolls down the bonus hill climb won Matthew Purdy a set of soft loop tie down straps donated by Mountain Lab Gear.
Thanks to Rallye Motoplex and Backman Heating and Cooling for sponsoring the NSORRA Rec Ride series this year!
4 - Wentworth Wilderness Area Work and Ride
Our last club event of the season was a Work and Ride in the Wentworth Wilderness Area.
NSORRA entered into an Off-Road Motorcycle Trail Management Agreement with the Province effective February 14, 2022. This agreement allows our members to ride on 16 important connector trails that cross wilderness areas. These trails include the trail that connects our NSORRA club, Fundy Trail Dirtbike Club, to the riding area used during the Folly Mountain Intermediate Enduro Rec Ride.
Under this agreement, NSORRA assumes responsibility for the management and maintenance of these trails.

NSORRA members Alroy Chase, Chuck Graham, Aaron Little, Matthew Purdy, Cody MacKenna and Neil Jennings completed 28 hours of trail cutting on a cold wet day. Snacks and drinks were provided by NSORRA before the final ride of the day.
Sponsor Support
Thanks again to sponsors Rallye Motoplex and Backman Heating & Cooling for sponsoring this season’s rec rides, and Mountain Lab Gear for donating prizes.
Thanks also to our many volunteers, especially Matthew Purdy, for helping out with all of these events!
Neil Jennings is the NSORRA Recreational Ride Coordinator. If you have a trail area that you would like to invite NSORRA members to ride - from beginner to advanced - please reach out to him at Neil.Jennings@nsorra.ca
